Moving Forward With Love

Moving Forward With Love
Psalm 1:1-3 “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.”
When I was a child in the 1960s, I thought that the year 2000 was a long way off, and that the 21st Century was a figment of the imagination. Now that 2012 has come to a close and the beginning of 2013 is here; the year 2000 is now history and in the distant past.
As the years turn into history, this world seems to produce much the same narrative year after year. There is evil and there is good. Just about the time we thought that we have seen it all, when it comes to evil, along comes another horrific act of violence.
The news today likes to exploit these stories and really run with the plot only to expand on its evil
intension. Therefore more stories are sold and better for the news circulation.
I am not taking away anything from the news story, only to say that if we allow the news to drive fear into our very souls, then we stop living. The congregation at the New Enterprise Church contin-ues to live even in the darkest hours of the past year of 2012.
We have a women’s group who visit the sick and the shut-ins. They take a hot meal to many. The deacons are very active in reaching out to those who need a visit or will take communion to the
shut-ins.
There are those who volunteer at the local Food Bank. The slow economy has an effect on the sup-plies. That does not stop the Food Bank mission in our community. The leaders ask for donations and the donations still continue to stock the store room shelves.
When families learn of news that would make changes in their lives, the people of the New
Enterprise church are there to assist or to encour-age by just simply giving a monetary gift and a prayer.
There is a group of men in our church who is somewhat on call to help with home repairs or
building wheel chair ramps. It is not the hands-on
of building of the ramp that have an effect on peo-ples’ lives, but the encouragement that they extend while doing the work.
When one looks at the improvements that were made in the church in 2012, it is easy to see that there has been a lot of work accomplished.
So, in 2013 we at the New Enterprise Church must walk in the way of the righteous. We must under-stand that there is evil in this world. We must not
allow the bad news to consume our lives, but be like the tree that is planted by streams of water where there will be the fruits of prosperity.
